When I considered how my light is spent
O'er my days with this sugarcane that is short
I feel I need to rend or make repent
My call afore my birth He has given as my worth
I am away around feeling lost found laughing amid good friends
Poking fiends n' wishing 'em baptised to end my shame
The cross I have on my neck is loaded light
The force backing up my plight is purity.
When's the last time you considered a short ODE like that?
I have seen enough that death has seen his own end
My call I wish I would water or bend
But zillions be the art at His bidding speed
So should I reject the truth to trudge the right thoroughfare?
Even or though my white is watered dirt because of my weed
Till in my own shroud; I will ne'er wait to declare.
