Will my Business Ever Survive?

Jodekss

Do you know my business collapsed last year? Would you believe me if I told you I lost my customers to a new competitor? Chai, I didn’t foresee this happening to my business to be honest! Can this business be revived? These questions amongst others are what most start-ups in business in their first-three years ask after establishment. Most times, the problem is not with the CEO, co-founder, or staff working with or for them.

The problem is with the business and the problem it wants to solve. The world at large is full of problems and people are scouting and, hunting for solutions, it would be unnecessary for a business that is supposed to solve problems to add to the list of existing problems. Hence, business start-ups are always up to build something someone wants.

Most businesses are doomed to fail from the outset because they didn’t go through the right channel and consultation. These consultations are what start-ups don’t consider because the of cost of money and they perceive it can be brain-tasking forgetting that the success of a business is dependent on this consultation. This consultation however is not far-fetched from what the business owner has envisaged rather it is deeper more and analytical than what the business owner had in mind. The business owner in the euphoria and floods of excitement that emanates from his idea omits important and salient issues that will determine the success of his business.

The consultation here is the business analyst. A business analyst has been trained and equipped to help a business owner achieve his optimal prospect and success in his business. Business in itself is strategic hence a business analyst helps to take charge, find problems, and put in place strategies and, processes to solve seemingly present and future issues. An experienced business analyst instills and takes initiative plans within the operations of the business and implements them. Virtually, all companies considered successful today fly and benefit from the inputs of business analysis. A business is successful when it addresses its issues upfront.

If a business owner understands the efficacy of business analysis, he should be quick into buying into their ideas. There are however strategic ways through which a business analysis works for business start-ups. Business analysis works in these ways:

  • The business must clarify its goals and the needs it proposes to meet
  • Identify the barricades that might hinder them from reaching their targeted audience
  • Brainstorm and come up with solutions to the problems perceived
  • Ensure immediate implementation of the solutions generated.

The business consultant can take different approaches to help the business scale through hurdles. The approaches are many but one will be discussed or used as a template that is widely used by the business analyst which the business owner can follow through with and keep close tabs on what the business analyst is doing or about to do. With this, the business owner is not oblivious.

The commonly used approach is SWOT Analysis. This term summarizes the techniques the business analyst aim to use to fine-tune your business.

  • S – Strength
  • W- Weakness
  • O- Opportunities
  • T- Threats.

At this point, the business analysis puts into consideration both external and internal weaknesses and opportunities. SWOT analysis is a four-quadrant analysis for a business analyst where he places the data as the answers for each quadrant. A business analyst answers the questions under each of the quadrants. The SWOT analysis stands tall among other techniques because it is easy to operate, it solely works for small enterprises or businesses.

The wall of a business does crash suddenly, the foundation might have been built a shaky ground, but it can be restored if proper consultation is made on time and the problem the business aims to solve will be possible with the help of a business analyst and the willingness of the business owner to do the needful. No business can stand the test of time without prior analysis.

What If I Get Tired? 😩

Jodekss

Pessimism 'kills' naturally; however, assuming the role of pessimists in situations where you can't define or accurately tell what the future holds in relationships is key. A pessimist believes and foresees the tendency for the worst to happen even before they occur. He could smell the dead rat before it was killed. In truth, no one wants to see pessimists or assume it, yet we always play the role of pessimists in relationships. Of the common ones is love relationships. Does this make you a bad person? Oh no! You are not. You are just a human who wants to find reasons to love even when it is not convenient.

Hey, you, are you saying I am in a relationship inconvenience!? That's not what I'm saying. I meant that the power of love compels us to love sometimes unconditionally. Thus, pessimism is a state of weariness in a relationship. No one would admit this because the word "pessimism" sounds harsh and so uncalled for. Sit and 'lemme' explain...

Initial 'gra gra' in a relationship will motivate you to go the extra mile(s) for your partner. Often, you wouldn't mind absurd things for them. The tempo of your love is high and obviously can't go down. But how do we explain the weariness or the feeling of tiredness? Is it your partner? Or the feeling of boredom in the relationship? Well, sometimes it is none of the above. Suffice to say that your partner couldn't have been the problem but the "pessimistic syndrome" in the form of weariness or tiredness. Hence, "pessimistic syndrome" in this context or article means the state of tiredness.

It is like some people to feel tired. This set of people would always reiterate that they are tired even when they aren't stressed in any way. Also, when they have everything working out for them. They can't just trace why they feel the way they feel. Yet, these people crave relationships and cannot sustain them. People with this syndrome find it hard to keep relationships, and as their nature is, they only get to enjoy the thrills of a relationship for a while before they begin to react.

The efficient way to keep dealing with this feeling of tiredness is to:

  • Spice your relationship up.
  • Collaborate with your partner or friend to help overcome your pessimistic syndrome.
  • Let them know what interest you and find ways to navigate through them.

Positive Relationship Breaks: this might get out awkward, but taking a break in your relationship can help you evaluate your personality while you are with your partner and helps to discover yourself and how to do better in the relationship. I read somewhere that "love goes on holiday" (this idea sounds scary as it can lead to a breakup if not carefully handled).

Erase unrealistic expectations. Expectations of what you want your partner to be can often make you feel tired, especially when they don't meet up with what you have stored up in your head. Separate your expectations from the person and enjoy what your partner can do for you positively.

Thrive to become a better version of yourself. We are often not engaged; we tend to focus on our partners. Change the narrative and engage yourself in something tangible that would make your partner or friends love you more and value you.

You must take care of this feeling if you've noticed this feeling of tiredness. There are no strict rules or ways to overcome it, but with these a few points, you can defeat the feeling before it deprives you of a good relationship and friendship. However, the best way to deal with this is communication. Let your partner know you tend to feel tired, and together, you both, like lovers or a group of friends, can overcome the cost of losing each other to 'pessimistic syndrome.'

Be Thankful; Regulate Your Longing

Jodekss
iStock

The next time you look at yourself and/or everything and you feel (bad as you) have got nothing to be thankful for, try and do everything for the remaining of that day with a part of yourself. For instance, walk to the market/downtown on one leg, blindfold yourself and see movies, eat solid foods without having to chew. This will remind you how ingratitude you have been come this far.

It seems to me we tend to quickly forget about the things we have already, lost in our ‘lust’ for more –the things we have deemed as our needs as we exist. Although, needing and wanting more will always remain with humanity as long as there is life and time. This has been (with us) even before the beginning of time as we know it –that is by the way. Hence, that is no news –shouldn’t be surprising desiring is in-built with everyone.

However, what should seem surprising is that most of us live and we forget to remember the things we have which others are longing to have even as we are yet longing to have what others have, we don’t have. In-between this cognizance or understanding is where a space for appreciation and thanksgiving could be found or should come in. Just like you standing in the middle of a parted ocean, to your right and left.

When it comes to possession or acquisition of whatever, name it –properties such as cars, houses, monies, and the likes and other things abstraction such as meekness, sagacity, ‘health related status’ and so forth, even as you feel you lack behind in any of them, there are those having less of what you have and are appreciative. The bigly sense in this is all about seeing a good reason to be contented in the present moment naturally even as you are practically longing for improvement. Anything other than that will mean, no matter what you have, appreciating yourself and any other external agent, your Maker, human helper(s) or influencer(s) for instance, will be very hard no matter what more feat you add as time advances.

You see, living a life of appreciation is a lot healthier than not. When you feel appreciated, or are appreciated you naturally glow inside out. Compare when you aren’t appreciated or there is nothing like appreciation at all, it will taste lifeless –imagine that. Thank others; thank yourself.

Always find a reason to be thankful to yourself and external parties even when occasion doesn’t call for that. It helps the psyche better than the otherwise. It helps to heal the world in a little way than leaving it as it is or making it much worse. A life that is filled with thanksgiving doesn’t imply such life is perfect and no problems at all, it implies such life is reasonable enough to understand that we will never have everything we need but we can always have reasons to be thankful and appreciative if we can stop our chasings and look back or around us to note those who have less what we have in abundance.

Enlarge Your World

Jodekss

Life has always had me fascinated concerning everything about it. Whenever it happens, the moments the mysticism of life has me pause whatever I am doing to think about it all, I often find myself lost in my own thoughts. I hope there is someone who feels exactly as I feel –I think not. There is no word to describe the feeling that everything that happens to us forces us to run around in a circle. Imagine running around in a circle from the dawn of your life to the time you breathe your last; it looks pathetic and monotonous, right? But really, this is actually how the world works for us all,  maybe.

We wake, work, and go to bed and repeat the same thing the following day until that day comes in, and we cannot do the next routine. In a way, this would make someone wary to feel sad. It is possible to make one reconsider a lot of things or approaches to life living.

The world is vast. Thousands of tribes, origins, histories, backgrounds, and the likes differentiate our individualities. Is it not ironic that inside all these seemingly compounding complexities life presents us naturally, if we look deeply at it, it still seems as if we run in tight cages? Now, we are in the age of technology, and it only keeps getting better –albeit, the same tech comes two-faced: positives and negatives. Even with the addition of this suiting enhancement which we leverage for sustenance today, it has, directly and indirectly, increased our constraints as humans if we consider some realities that abound in societies today. Is it normal and comforting to be right in front of your gadgets, amassing millions of information filled with both truth and lie, good and evil, uprightness and corruption, and the likes? This calls for raising an eyebrow –being constrained to anything excessively will naturally resort to harming the person in question. Tech is just one of the primary things limiting us even as it is meant to advance us today. Any other thing that we should worry about today are notions -GREED, S~E~L~F~I~S~H, and HATE. We need to get past these constraints life presents us as we live our individualities and as we coexist with others in our communities. There is the need for us to extend past what limits us to what everyone suffers commonly. We need to expand and live a meaningful life –one that stretches out of the restrictions life presents us through its variables and vicissitudes.

How do you enlarge your world?

Two things are involved, basically: understanding that life is indeed fleeting and time is priceless, irretrievable.

Acknowledgment is the first phase of proffering a tangible solution to any problem or difficulty of life. Once there is a clear understanding of the truth about life, pinpointing your essence in it would be easier. You will or can then have a resolve that will clear the dark clouds, beclouding that move that will help you live a life that has more meaning than just the usual routine –waking, working, and sleeping. Once you know you have a very limited time, whatever has a beginning has to have an end, making moves on things that will outlive you would come next. This will make:

  1. helping others grow be natural for you
  2. taking time out for recreations would be easy for you
  3. saving for a BIGGER picture would be a default thing
  4. forgiving others for their misdeeds would be a lot easier
  5. living a life crazing to invent or create something exceptional from among crowds would be a default
  6. ultimately, loving yourself and others be primary in your living principle.

Hence, life is literally a circle and not flat. It is a journey that has us take the same route repeatedly until we cannot anymore. In the process of your journey, always try and find time to come down to do things that are much more meaningful. It is meaningful if/when you engage in things that most find hard to engage in. Your essence has a person lies in leaving an enlarged life, which it cannot be erased over time, now or later. Try, enlarge your world!

Challenges peculiar to self-taught in the professional space by Boluwatife Oladipo

Self-taught
Source: Google

I can't tell from afar what it means to be self-taught in a particular field of study. The problem usually is not with the term "self-taught", the primary issue is hinged on assessment and delivery. what follows usually is a question. Self-taught differs in meaning, method, and mentorship. Self-taught means to educate oneself in a particular field without the helping hand of a teacher, but with the help of resources and the internet. The above definition has been extended or paraphrased. When self-taught professionals today didn't get a mentor to teach them directly the tenets of what they are doing or learning. They relied solely on the resources made available via the distribution of information. However, this doesn't mean that self-taught individuals do not appreciate the input of teachers or instructors. It could be that they don't have any at their disposal.

A self-taught, therefore, uses the available resources such as books, videos, articles, or journals in a particular field to widen his or her knowledge in the absence of a coach or teacher.

A self-taught individual enjoys autonomy. In this wise, you are not placed under any pressure, especially time. You are learning at your own pace and comfort. While learning you tend to discover your weaknesses, strengths and learn how to navigate through them to achieve maximum growth in what you are learning.

We need more kindness

Jodekss

Most times that I give or help, it is not because I have sufficiency or because I don't need help too, I give and I help because I know how it feels, to have once before but later have nothing left and I know how it feels to be alone and helpless over and over again.

But don't sweat it, don't leverage someone's kindness/goodness, if you do so you'll regret it immediately or later. Others too will suffer what they don't know. Imagine someone stopped being good on you, imagine what happens next in chain reaction - s/he is not helping her/himself, others s/he is meant to help remain helpless and those who are helpless who they would have helped remain helpless too... and on and on.

Read my thinking on DESTINY...

Helping, in my own perspective, is meant to look like everyone's accountability in everyone's power. Meanwhile, this would never be the case if one is finding it hard to love one's neighbour even as one has loved oneself. This means, trying and loving oneself truly is the foundation to loving another entity. And that tantamount to wanting to do whatever it takes, in one's power, to help another entity.

Finally, when that/help is done to you, try and look around and help someone truly in need. At least, do this and expect nothing as repayment even in the same measure. The universe shall somehow repay kindness to the kind, and evil to the otherwise.

Fusion of fatalism and anti-fatalism as a determinant factor of a man's destiny by Boluwatife

By 🅱🅾🅻🆄🆆🅰🆃🅸🅵🅴

The very first time I came across these words - fatalism and anti-fatalism, I was not surprised but I tried to bring a synergy between these two concepts. However, they are separate opinions or philosophical terms that should be dealt with separately depending on the context. Surprisingly, I found out that they can actually be treated alongside. In fact, they cannot be isolated from each other.

At some point, an individual will eventually be a victim of fate but anti-fatalism or indeterminism will virtually change the prediction of fate.

In simple terms, fatalism is the belief in bad occurrence which is inevitable. Fatalism, the attitude of mind which accepts whatever happens as having been bound or decreed to happen. In other words, predestination. What happens during the cause of life is believed to have been predestined or ordained by the gods. Hence, an individual does not have the choice or liberty to change what his or her destiny has chosen.

Ola Rotimi's ' the gods are not blame' better explains the concept of fatalism. Odewale the main character could have chosen another destiny if he has the chance but it seems the gods are harsh toward him. He is left with absolutely no choice other than to kill his father ignorantly and marry his mother. Many today find themselves in the shoes of Odewale in a way. This is so we they just have this persuasive feeling that whatever happens is what they are destined to experience believing they have no control over the course of their lives. The chance to turn back the hands of time comes knocking at the door of these people, hence Anti-fatalism.

In other not to become a victim of bad fate, anti-fatalism says what you become or what determines your destiny are choices and decisions you make. You don't have to blame the gods or God. He chose your destiny for you and gave you free will to do whatsoever you deem fit to fulfil it.

Many religious circles are the propagators of fate. Some even attribute it to Yoruba culture that is 'kádàrá ni' (it is destiny). 'You can't change your destiny' have become the norm. Forgetting what the Holy Bible says about Jabez. Did God not change his destiny? The truth is fate and indeterminism will play out in our lives at some points but we have the chance to choose and overcome bad fate.

What happens to those with good fate? Just like we have bad fate,  also have the good ones. Predestination gave birth to both. What bothers me is that those with GOOD DESTINY don't strive at all. They settle and hope their good fate will bring them fortunes suddenly. I dare to say GOOD FATE KILL YOU THERE. Have they forgotten the rules of anti-fatalism? Don't sit there and expect manna to fall from heaven. Even good-fated individuals should thrive to bring their good fate to realisation.

The bottom line is, your choices and decisions determine your destiny. Not what Ifa, baba, pastor or alfa says. You are the chief executive (author) officer of your destiny!

Now, We’d Raise an Eye Brow – Coronavirus and Lassa Fever in Question

Author – Odunayo Areyemi

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. That could have been the starting ana if I had not had a change of mind this cold morning. Science –to me had been with us long before the beginning of humanity itself ‘archeologically’. How? Everything scientifically discovered are being discovered from what had been around before check. So, human’s evolution in psyche toward science would always be running behind the mother nature, leave it or take it. But is it not time for humans to think twice, three times –and be more critical considering the perspective from which we evaluate our resolves on scientific happenings around us? Doing this would awaken the mindfulness in us and make us to be able to prevent the worse to come rather than running around in kilter trying to find solutions –as humanity’s extinction would double in its rapid speed at happening –when the worse happens. Coronavirus and lassa fever are currently adding insult to injury, deaths in different continents as at the moment of typing this. Thousands had died, are dying and are probably to get infected. And who knows which virus is coming next? And there would definitely be more to the number of the headcount of those dead and infected released by the countries’ authority –one should know that by default even without the whistleblowers sounding whistles about the actual figure.
Coronavirus – 2019-NCoV in China and Lassa Fever in Nigeria for instance in Africa are topping the chart of killer infections in 2020 already check. The former seems to be spreading faster than the latter though. Coronavirus is coined from the Latin word ‘corona’ which means crown or halo as the shape of the virus resembles a crown. Whilst Lassa was named after the town where the case first occurred in the world in 1969, in Nigeria with its infection across West African nations estimated to 300,000 – 500, 000 with at least 5000 deaths annually (Facts Sheet, 2020). But what or who could have caused these deadly viral infections if I may ask? Even though it had been narrowed down in the course of trying to create vaccines and cure coronavirus that its root cause is the consumption of wildlife such as bats, snakes or possible leak from well-protected centre (in Wuhan,) China (Young, 2020). I would like to raise eye brow on the ‘well-protected centre’ the most as manmade deliberate or undeliberate action could have leaked the virus. And in commonality with coronavirus, lassa fever –an endemic in Nigeria, Benin, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Sierra Leone and Togo in currency had been traced to (the contamination with urine or feces of) infected Mastomys rats (WHO, 2020). Yet and again, I would like to raise eye brow on the ‘well-protected centre’ the most as manmade deliberate or undeliberate action could have leaked it.

Billions, if not trillions of dollars would be made by pharmaceutical industries internationally or globally considering these viruses as they are way too hard to cure. The sort of society we live in at the moment has not changed from its greedy ways. The greediness of humanity could have formed the chain reaction that led to the release of some viruses that we have learnt already worldwide. Do you know fat-pocketed companies deliberately study and build viruses? Though the former might be to understand yet it is dangerous just as the latter as they are both interwoven. Powerful people could try and understand a virus to multiply it and use the same as weapon for the sake of extortion, monetary value or other factors that could be tagged to evil mindset, greediness or hate. There are cases established validly of virus leaking before. The outbreak of SARS in 2004 in China had been traced to a leak from where it was contained (Young, 2020). Let us assume the worst of humanity again these days, ALL THIS COULD BE MANMADE trust me. These viruses are being studied and are being tested on animals such as ape, rats and all others. These animals run, bite and all that. Could it have been that one was being injected with the virus (in the course of studying or not) on purpose and sold out? There are different possibilities to the source of these killer diseases. And each could have the backing of one greedy agent for a selfish end – so, we should note and watch out!
Nonetheless, as much as I would want us all to consider things from opposing perspectives at times and not be too common, I would want to us to be wary of the potential carriers of these viral diseases. We could abstain from consuming wildlife and we would survive fine. Coronavirus for instance as reported has cross-species transmission of pathogen from snakes or bats. This means bats could be the source because snakes feed on bats. Snake being the first host of coronavirus years back, implies a snake could have bitten a bat and that bat could have then been fed on at the Wuhan market. Yet, the mystery of how a pathogen whose host was coldblooded animal could survive in a warm-blooded one remains a mystery or ‘a secret’.  Meanwhile, these wildlife, cold-blooded or warm-blooded, carries potential threats as viruses in their systems from their own wild or habitat naturally which might not multiply in their system, but on getting to us humans, their multiplicity rate would not be in 2’s or 4’s but in 100’s –the insane strength of virus. Chinese home and abroad should at the moment be wary of bat eaters around them and abstain consumption of bats. Nigerians and its sub-region states’ indigenes and non-indigenes should keep their houses clean off rats whether infected or not. If one must kill a rat, not with bare parts but with a tool and make no rooms for them in the interior part of the house. No rat-eating. For those whose businesses are about wildlife animals such as bat, snake and even rat family. Care must be taken – “prevention is better than cure”, they say.

Mad people Crazy people (Inspired by Moses Inwang's movie 'Crazy people') by Boluwatife

The whole truth is that I don't know where to begin. I have a lot to reflect on but let's begin this way anyway. Moses Inwang's movie is actually an eye opener to different types of disorder. I'm not going to bore you with details of the movie but trust me it is happens in the real life. Drama is an imitation of reality anyway. So, mental illness is real.

Read more from the same author on DETERMINATION AND SUCCESS
For two weeks now, I have been visiting the government owned psychiatric hospital. I'm not the patient but my experiences there have showed me what it really means to have mental disorder. Somehow, I began to evaluate the normal reasonable people. The truth is WE ARE ALL MAD. I don't mean to insult anyone but come to think of it, there are different manifestations of madness from everyone and this defines our individualities somehow.

The fact that you are reasonable doesn't mean you are okay mentally. Directly or indirectly we manifest certain unnamed mental illness which can be traced to our background, environment, work and all yet lack a name to give to our illness. Mental illness as discovered by psychiatrists is a condition that affects, behaviour, thinking and mood. They further discovered common mental disorders like Clinical depression, Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Mood Disorder, Personality Disorder, Psychotic Disorder such as schizophrenia, Trauma- related disorder and Substance Abuse disorder. However, Psychiatrists argued that  there are other mental disorders which are yet to be categorised. How do you describe this type of disorder - you see an Hausa man selling jewelry and he talks to himself, pointing at some images yet he interacts with people?

Let me use the character that was used by Moses Inwang that's Lucinda Opara who is actually not mad mentally but mad literally. She was able to influence Alfred, Lucy made him believe he was Ramsey Nouah. Is that not crazy? All because she wants to proof a point that she is a good writer. Prior to that time she had convinced her parents that she has clinical depression which was self- diagnosed. Mad people I tell would go to the extreme to show how capable or good they are to proof you right or wrong. Now the question is is Lucy not mad? Just take a look at the fictional story she created about her boyfriend and sex and all just to make Alfred feel important.

I have been there also. But my own madness was used to save a mental disorder patient to get better. I told you earlier that I have been visiting the mental hospital. So Mr P met me for the first time and he came up with the idea that I'm his wife. I didn't know about it until I got to the hospital that very evening and I was told I have a husband who have been kneeling with his Bible in his hand waiting for me to come. When I got there, I had to beg Mr P to stand up then he said promise me you will marry me and I was like OK but get well first. He stood up and I took him to his bed, pet him like a baby and he said will you wait for me to get well so I can proof my love to you? And I said OK. As I write this, he is my friend and he saved my number as his wife. Very interesting.....The gist is enormous by the way. If I may ask how do you use your madness?

I know of another patient who have been trying to be fine. He was diagnosed of Clinical depression. Mr T initially was rude and easily irritated but for good number of reasons he has been calm, loving and considerate. For a week now, he has changed. He checks on other patients, and talks with them even help the nurses to calm a violent or aggressive patient. He is simply trying to be normal again.

Laughter is indispensable in the psychiatric hospital. You will laugh and feel pity at the same time. I can't simply describe those moments when have got to laugh and cry within for a patient. It is not funny as we think. You get to hear some of them say 'I am GOD' or scream, I mean they just shout and talk excessively. They talk about unrealistic things, see images that another normal person cannot see, they claim to hear voices and get angry unnecessarily. Believe me that is what Moses Inwang was trying to portray in his movie.

I just think it takes another mad person to understand a madman. Though, there's a destination. Lucy has a destination in mind which is to proof that she is indeed a good writer. Hence, Alfred was used to achieve her 'weirdest' dream. A mental disorder patient is not even aware of his present state let alone of knowing his destination. They are oblivious.

You cannot underestimate the power of influence. Through influence Lucy was able to carry out her intended plan. First, she influenced her sister's mind to believe that her husband was cheating, then convinced her to be mentally ill and then her greatest influence to make her a master planner was on Alfred. Someone once said responsibility broaden your influence. She took responsibility for Alfred- the cars, accommodation, money and being his manager. She literally became the writer, producer and director of the character she created. Have ever thought about the most well known groups who were created not because they have money but influence got them to the peak. Influence they say cannot be achieved without motivation. She motivated him( Alfred) Oh my gosh! This makes me to ponder... If only our youths can be influenced and motivated to achieve more or do more.
Can you see now that MADNESS is relative? Moses Inwang's crazy people is not to down talk people with mental disorders but to create this awareness and how to help cure this people. Some mental illness take longer time to heal or better and some short as three months. It depends on the other reasonable and understanding people around to help them. If you have anyone with mental illness please don't segregate them. Show them love and acceptance, patience is needed just in case you have anyone. You have to be extremely patient, don't say bad words around them because if you do it goes to their brain, the rest is history, I mean disaster. And if they are complaining about the drugs given to them in the hospital, encourage them to use it... The side effects to these drugs are unexplainable still let them understand why they need it. Also make them accept their condition. When they accept the are not stable mentally, healing takes place first from there.

It is all my fault, I shouldn't have troubled the gods where they rest. All I was looking for was fun, not for everything to be in kilter this way. This thing we do just like that back in the city, we take shots of anything and have 'em, you know, uploaded on social networks. Why worrying myself telling you all this! Nobody knows about civilisation or internet here, too bad!

Fadeh:
Shut up, I said shut up, you still have the guts to talk ehn! You still have the guts to talk about civilisation when the gods are all ready mad at you. Your mouth would rotten first, then your manhood, each part one after the other would spoil, till you leave this world behind bad to the gods for further punishments.

Geledh:
Don't scare me papua, I am no kid, there's nothing like gods, those statute are just some artful works only and...

Fadeh:
Ah, artful works! I said shut up, I am your father and I command you to shut your mouth. I knew by your mouth, you would one day cause me trouble the day you were born, it looked long and coarse like a cassava stem. Be quiet ehn, shut it up, keep it all quiet... Keep... it quiet!

Geledh:
Ah ah! Papa, leave my mouth ah! Let me talk, I am telling the fact Papa!

Fadeh:
What fact? Deglede, you know am in boiling soup, this city son doesn't know how furious these gods could be when sinned against and not appeased at the appropriate time. He is my only son, others are females! Help me out friend. You remember what happened with Meisy's daughter two moons ago!

Deglede:
...

Fadeh:
Why, looking at me like that?

Deglede:
I know the number of sacrifices you made to have him, I am aware of everything. However, I have been to the city before and I have seen how life is there, so social, so much of interesting activities. I would always tell you to come with me to the city but you'd say no, this is a civilised world Papa Geledh.

Fadeh:
What! I can't believe this, what are you now implying ehn! I should go back home and go and take Iyan and Egusi, top up Emu and take one of my wives to bed, pretending all is fine right!

Deglede:
Be at peace! All is fine! I do not see anything wrong with the pictures your son took. Moreover, he'd deleted them. To be honest and to be blunt, I hate the blabbing part of your attitude Geledh, you don't just know when to stop talking. You are hopeless!

Geledh:
Not really, the...

Deglede:
Shut up, I said shut up, you see... Ahem! Listen, the two of you, be very attentive. I went to Iya Eleh's - the Ifa priestess's. I discussed everything with her, she asked Ifa severally, on what to use to appease the gods you said are mad with your son. She came with another thing entirely. She said, "nothing". "Nothing only", "the gods have seen how good life is in the cities and how pictures are been taken there", she added. I guess now, "the gods are not mad but want more pictures", she concluded.

Geledh:
Wow! That is what I am saying!

Fadeh:
Ah ah! Be quiet. Ah, this is madness! Deglede, seriously, on this one, I distrust you, it doesn't make any sense.

Deglede:
Well, I saw that coming! What do you plan we do now?

Geledh:
Yes, I have one...

Fadeh:
Shut up! Let us all go back to our Ifa priestess, I want to hear it with my own
ears!

Exeunt:
Deglede and Fadeh.

Geledh:
These people are so Barbados! And papa's own is worse, eh!

Exeunt:
Geledh.

Entered:
Ifa priestess, Deglede, Fadeh and Geledh.

Ifa priestess:
Deglede, I hope all is fine with you!

Deglede:
It is about the issue you helped me to ask Ifa about yesterday. This is the friend I was talking about.

Ifa Priestess:
May Ifa bless you! But I have told you everything Ifa revealed to me yesterday, haven't I? I told you Ifa said the gods are not mad but that they want more pictures. I don't, unnecessarily ask Ifa the same question over and over again.

Geledh:
Oooh! That is simple, I would go and take more when we leave here!

Ifa priestess:
And who on earth are you, who is that young man Deglede?

Fadeh:
He is the youngest of my children and my only surviving son, Geledh. He is the one who did what ought not to be done!

Ifa priestess:
May Ifa forgive you and bless you.

Geledh:
Amen ma!

Ifa priestess:
Ifa is not like us man, he talks in parable, meaning, in unearthly language or words, that he said the gods want more pictures doesn't mean you'd go there and take more shots, understood? Are you from the city young man?

Geledh:
Yes ma'am!

Fadeh:
Education has spoilt him, if I had known I would've pinned him down here from birth to farm beside me here.

Ifa priestess:
Don't be worried old man, everything happens for a purpose. To my understanding, that is how they do in the cities these days, all my children are there too, I have forbidden them from taken pictures of anything the gods or Ifa wouldn't like to share with the outside world when they come home. As I was saying, Ifa is parabial, what Ifa implied was that we should encourage civilisation in our village here, to be in meetness with the outside world. You see, the gods and Ifa want what's best for us!

Fadeh:
Thank you Ifa priestess. I am now at peace, having known the gods are not mad with my son and with our peaceful village! Thank you my friend too!

Deglede:
Don't thank me, what are friends for! Let's just thank your son, his mistake has given us a go to begin the journey to be as civilised as the cities are down there! We are blind before but its a thing of the past from today henceforth. The message of Ifa shall reach our Oba and all the heads in this village. We should start from there.

Fadeh:
Hmmn! Everything works together for good really. It looks odd and it's good at the same time!

Geledh:
Aww... The gods are not mad but want more pictures!

Exeunt:
All.

The End.

Job vs Business by Jodekss

As long as there will always be a classed society, whether directly or indirectly, the number of workers in stats will always be much more than that of the business owners.

Why?

One man can cook up an idea and strive hard to see to its successful execution yet, he cannot operate every office by himself when the business starts thriving. A successful business would be broad with vast scope of existence in the competitive world of economy, thus, he cannot be everywhere at all times - he has to employ others other than himself as a result. That has been how labour and service or master and servant works right from the said first business, farming back in time.

However, the best thing remains trying to be one of the few bosses out there managing a business at least and employing others to help himself and them earn. Even if you earn 1 million naira weekly, your boss pays you that because you had helped him or her make at least 2 or 3 million naira per week. Yes, whoever says managing a business is easy is a rich liar. That is why only few people will always be able to be the richest per continent compared to the otherwise. It is not easy and it takes time and insane creativity. Workers get sacked every now and then, others die suddenly without knowing it would come that early (God forbid for us all here and our loved ones) only for the company to put a notice of vacancy next on the following Monday morning or so. Why? Because the business need to keep moving. It is not the big building or name that runs firms but people, any gap left unfilled must be filled on time lest... All the allowances would be retrieved immediately, the private cars, the private house would be culled back and that is it for top hands though. The children or the siblings for instance cannot go and claim this position. If sacked, they cannot go and protest as to why. But a business owned by you, even if/when the worst comes to its worst in the widest shades of the figment of our imaginations, the business WOULD continue to run. The children, the wife or the relative would still have entitlement whatsoever. Now that is the best. Being the boss is the best - but it is not easy. It takes maximum effort to achieve maximum result - not by muscle NO but grace and hard thinking on what one can offer differently.

Read on BEHAVIOURAL ECONOMICS by the same author

My àdúrà/prayer is may most of us be the BOSS eventually in whichever field we find ourselves. Today, we might be servants yes, life is one step then the next. And um, some people or we all actually need to serve others first, so that we would be able to know how to lead others later. There are few people who have ideas actually but no economic resources to fund it, thus they would endure, maybe a decade of serving a boss to garner resources, and then resign and establish.

Get on your feet by Boluwatife

When we fall we should be able to rise again. Rising and falling is not a good thing but what can one do if found in such a situation? I believe one of the best solutions would be to actually Get On Your Fit.

Don't be afraid to start afresh. Going back to the scratch wouldn't naturally be easy;  don't hesitate to go back in spite. Go back to level one. Look, there is a popular game called Candy Crush on cellular phones - it's one of the games common among girls these days to keep us busy as you would know too. The first stage in the game can be so easy likewise the five subsequent ones. I though noticed that when you get to level ten and eleven the game gets tougher in comparison. Now, failure to get past this level would result to going over it again. And we still embark on doing that. Most of us do don't we? Yes, going back is quite frustrating but we still do. This analogy fits in well to rising and falling in this life's ups and downs for life is just like the Candy Crush.

Read VALUE by the same author

You don't need to be scared of how horrible you felt when you failed. All you need to do is evaluate and learn what you didn't or couldn't do well before and do better now. That is power of experience yes? When you try this time you would of cause succeed or learn another tangible lesson to help you be better. Failing in the first place or second could at times be due to lack of preparation, understanding and other unforeseen circumstances. But the story is different now because you have acknowledgement or experience.

Hence, right now, I need you to go back to square one intelligently having done your observations, preparations and strategies critically. You would succeed this time, don't entertain any fear, you have all it takes to ace any stage of the game of life. Be courageous and remain positive. Being afraid doesn't mean you are a coward, even the bravest warriors at some points in their legendary lives were weak and scared but going on to try (again) in spite is sign of courage which shall lead you to, through and into your seasons of successes.

Appointment and disappointment by Boluwatife

I used to have this weird understanding about disappointment. I used to think that disappointment is meant for certain people - the wicked, crooked and perverse people. Little did I know that disappointment is not peculiar to some sect of people. It is indeed an event that is common to all.

Let me tell you what my thoughts were exactly. To me, a good person does not deserve to be treated badly. Hence, disappointment is not meant for the good people. In a way, I have considered myself as a good person so disappointment is not my lot.

Now that I have this understanding that if we (humans beings) don't face disappointments, trials, rejections and temptations then we are nothing but a child. It is a child who believes that he/she does not deserve any of those.

Trust me now, I have snapped out of this shallow understanding. For I have now known sorrow, sadness and disappointment are signs of maturity. However, they are obviously not palatable situations but it is how we handle and overcome that makes us matured persons.

Read Assumption by the same author...

Just take a look at Job's case. He was reduced to nothing, he practically had nothing to fore back on. Can we say he deserved it? Obviously NO. In the end, he was able to overcome.

This is the crux of the matter - never think you don't deserve to be disappointed or sorrowful. No one attains full maturity without the experiencing of disappointment; how you leverage on them to be better person in life is what matters (Improvised quote).

Be the story; don't tell a story by Boluwatife

I don't know why I have to title this article the way I did. This morning, while I was busy with my chores, the movie Hercules just bombed into my head. I didn't understand the rationale behind this thought but thank God I discovered it.

I don't know if you are familiar with that movie but I got something from it. Which is stop acting like a story teller, telling people stories about other people's achievement. Thrive to be the story that would be told. Hercules's Cousin was such a talented story teller. The way he narrates Hercules's legendary acts is so amazing. I could imagine how he told those stories with so much exaggeration and fluidity. Earnestly, the character is so talented. But wait.... Can you just ask yourself where is this guy? If he knows so much about his big brother, why is it that he never asked his big brother to teach him how to fight? Probably, he did, probably not.

Stop acting like this character here. Be the story others tell henceforth. What do you want people to say about you? Let your life be a story, a puzzle that need to be solved but cannot be solved except by you. Don't be too easy to predict.

In a particular scene, this character does not have the platform to tell his tale as usual. The unexpected had happened. No one to protects him, since their friends have turned to foes. So, Hercules told him that - you see today is quite different from other battles. I'm afraid this time you going to grab a sword and fight to keep yourself alive. He was happy and scared for his life though. Yet he grabbed the sword and fought.

Consider this legendary masterpiece poesy - the untold unfold

You can see now that he is now a semi- Hercules. He fought. I am sure  of this that if a sequel were to be written, this boy will talk about how he faced thousands of soldiers. By this time the subject matter had shift from Hercules to himself.
My point is, are you ready to write your story? Do You worth being talked or discussed about? All you need now is to stop running away from what you can do. Whether you win or lose, just fight. "There are no competitors just fight" says a quote.

Congratulations! By Jodekss

It is not easy to rejoice with a neighbour instantly who gets what you have been longing for just like that. Hundreds of questions beginning with ‘why’ or ‘how’ would run through your head in a matter of few seconds before you could congratulate the fellow. At times you just turn back and leave in regret, confusion, hatred, envy as you do not understand why yours is so difficult to do already. That is nature for you. That is human for you. Feelings like such in such an occasion can be said to be automatic for everyone in your situation out of frustration.

There are some principles about life though you seem to have taken for granted which are eye opener on how things work under the sun from the beginning of time and yet. Understanding these principles would not allow you to dwell too long in these negative thoughts at any point in time –they will keep you in good position to receive your own long awaited blessings. The more you reflect on negativities like those, the more they spread and make matter worse. Don’t you dwell in them!

There is appropriate time for everyone. There is season for everything. There is the appropriate time for night to come and go and for day to come and go. The two should not come together or go together at the same time. Just as it will be very odd for everyone in the world to be born at the same time –imagine how uneven everything will look like if it is like that. If what you need so much has not reached you yet, that does not mean yours is not on the way. That does not mean your sins are the worst in the history of humanity. That may not mean you are not prayerful enough. When what you want or need reaches your neighbour first, it is not a sign that yours will not reach you later. It would definitely. The only difference is that just as it has been conditioned for day to come then night so as it, for you. The person’s blessing is to come first, then yours later in time.

The world of World Barnabas - Mystical Pen

Dwelling too long in poor feelings will shift your position from receiving at your own appropriate time. This is just like as we snooze alarm farther in time on our cell phones. If/when your neighbour gets what you have been crying in the open and in the closet for, walk up to such, rejoice with or congratulate such wholeheartedly. Don’t do fake congratulations please! Do it from the bottom of your heart having understood your season is close by in good faith –when the person you congratulated would have no choice but to congratulate you too out of awe.

Most times we shy away from wishing others well when they actually have a quarter of the blessings on the way to us and because we do that, the blessings become someone else’s and we are back to square one. How long must we continue to live like this –with attitudes that keep pooling backwards our blessings? Find it easy to rejoice with your neighbour; even if out of arrogance the person feels s/he has the best of blessings. If you have rejoiced truly, yours might just be better. My Skit is Committing Suicide

At a backyard –there were stacks of faces facing one another in the face facing the face of the two vying fine young men exchanging words… Fisticuffs were beginning to come as their eyes were beginning to turn from red into black or so sha. The sun was seated in the sky having brought forwards more seats for the comely coming moon to exchange guard as usual. The shadows of every face have long been buried in the faces of the fading day as expected. Then there was an old lad wobbling closer, one pace then the next with his wise staff looking brokenly tired and yet knocking cracking sounds out of the earth as we know it so.

“Ah! I will kill you o… ehn ehn… na me get hanging first oooooo…” Sobbed Okafor. Na me, na me go first hang. I am the first to reach here. Am I not? Hey abi, everyone, is that not?
Come on kweep quiet! “Shouted Ola”. Oh-my-oh-my you don’t know wharisgoingon, you go no eventuarr…. Come on wharisgoingon, wait what can be going on that fit reach my own biko nu… “Interrupted rhetorically Okafor”. Both laughed boisterously with wonderment written bigly on either faces. The rope was dangling dancing to the whistling wings of winds hitting it sideways and the stool was looking at both of them expecting the first to come and go.

What about #Freesowore? 🇳🇬

Look, omo ina, I know you are ready to die like am ready too buhhhhhhh, you know, e go take time to die na, it is not kiakia the rope get your neck and the stool commot you go die o, you go choke begging for air and air no go show face, at least I no that for inside movies. Why don’t you just allow make I do mine first before before before… they… their money… the money… yeh… Wo, hmmmm… hey… hmmmmm… Wo come…. See, learn from how I die so e no go dey new to you. “Said quietly into Okafor’s left ear”.
This drama makes no sense to me fellas. “Said a bored educated face whose shoes’ have bent at different sides”. The old lad remained watching both with his eyes fixed into their dead spirits. The third character he must have been, whose part of the script was to remain mute, I guess.
Don’t be bored by this piece my dear learned fellow. There is essence in nonsense even and that is the point my people –seeing sense in all things. This man you see hanging will die committing suicide soon but could the problems life could NOT solve be solved in death? Look at how life is leaving Ola’s squeezed long. Feel the trepidation running through each of his vein and arteries. Hear the loud cries, fading voices of his shattering heart shedding tears in agony. Look at his eyes emitting regret as crimson tear glands are marching down his distorted countenance. What a beautiful ugly feeling. Isn’t it? “Expressed sorrowfully, the old lad”
Okafor, biko show; you have indeed seen how happily Ola left just now right? Alright, now every face here, draw, draw closer. My people, I beg you to draw closer, form an encirclement around me this evening and listen attentively to the words of the wise. Listen attentively to the voice of the universe. The mother earth now cries out loud, can you all not hear her sobbing? She sobs daily as glories of people are being kept in the earth to waste even before their time. She blubbers every midnight in agony because today none is ready to wait a bit more in hopes. ‘OH! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE THE LIFE YOU WERE GIVEN FOR FREE. IF HAPPINESS WILL NOT COME, GO AND GET IT YOURSELF –CREATE HAPPINESS FOR YOURSELF. LIVE AND LET LIVE. THERE ARE MANY BETTER WAYS TO DEAL WITH ANY PAIN, CHOOSE WISELY. YOUR OWN PROBLEMS CANNOT BE THE WORST.’ “Said the old lad slowly, lamenting…”.

Pastoral

How deceptive our eyes
wouldn't be
As per that purity and that
dirty
The images before our sights
we could cuddle and phantasise
The colour of the earth is filthy
yet has it be
The state hapless be glare
without a twitch titch of pity
From remorse were spiky embraces in comely sizes
The looks of gore, hopeless
in lots ludicrously cured in curse
The iron-sheets be this brown and loosed full of wide pores
Lifeless remarks laces every recurring bit peep does.
The variation amid the rich and reduced to somber
On the artificial as against the spirit be air-able by their sheets:
Thatches where ave would house,
for hatches belongs to the needy
The affluent hands' carry no stones, broken bottles, spoilt wheels, tooth on lib...
Heaven's cruel and graces blindly openly just any Diddy
Yet we take rain in pails to gulp from His sky indulging our angst with the rib
Gave us agape as if life's parity, as with the have's and have not's with the sun's chide saying howdy!

Thick Memories by Jodekss

I, have long loved to archive a lot of stuffs in order to reflect on them in the times to come. I am a man of unbelievable projections and no fancy about that.
Tʜɪs ɪs ᴀɴᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ʙɪᴛ ᴏꜰ ᴍʏ sᴛᴏʀʏ ᴛᴏ ᴇɴᴄᴏᴜʀᴀɢᴇ sᴏᴍᴇᴏɴᴇ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ...
Back in the years, let's say between 2008-2012, when I was passing through an horrible depression and rejection, I was practically and literally mad.
If you go through my poems then, they are so grotesque and hard to comprehend.
Okey, that is one of my looks then... LOOK AT THE IMAGE TAGGED.
That is the look of a lonely young man fighting through depression, an horrible one so to say.
Reel the poem I used to archive the picture (I didn't edit a word in it, as you might know I am an Editor now so... 😉:

"A caustic light was never, further to my 'rounding up'
The times was so limbo-stacked still amazing my amazement yet
The cup is filled
Drained and dried I thanked with thumbs up
Sit, confusing I confess: even when the hype is with
There would be another item to add to by mounting up...
Now the universe hullabaloo that this re-covering is called insanity...
And yes since that's the shape to a happy morrow
I am happy
The new me... [[f9.wink]]"

That was the lineation that marked my matching out even though everyone in my life misunderstood me safe for God and myself and my write-ups 😊. Oh dear, I was sickly in pains!

THE LOOSING POINT
At a point God helping, I developed this quote, "Better a little light than no light at all".
This idea that cooked that quote popped up in me one day then through a mystical experience. I was in my dad's room at the wee hour of the day, depressed still as usual and mad still as usual and....
There was power outage (that is not unusual around here 🇳🇬). I had a lamp close by. We failed to charge it. I could not see. It was thick dark, creamy thick that my big eye balls could not fight through to see a thing. I was though not scared but one thing was vivid, I could not see.
But being my dad's room, I could walk blindly, tapping and poking the floor and the wall and the bed, to pick stuffs there having known where they always are.
I reached out for the lamp. I put it on as low as it was and it glowed so deem. At least, I could still be noticed holding a light. It was able to lit in its least. It saw me out to the passage. Then to the parlour where there was brighter light. Then it occurred to my understanding. This is it. This is a message. This is not just an event. Even the Bible holds, "Everything works together for good". I held unto that and I fought through, out of that circumstance.
Well, as long as we all are alive, we all are fighting through something or some things relatively. Taking one's life or giving up is never a solution, there is always darkness because there was always Light first. Never forget that!
But majority are fighting through in the thick darkness without reaching out for the torch (Light) in spite it is all low to light.
Don't be one of them. Look for it, hold unto it, hold it up and never let it go till you get to the passage, past the passage, then into a brighter light eventually. Your Light is still alive. Jesus is the true Light! All you have to do is pick and click ON and you'd see.

Another Truth about Professional Courses [NYSC as inference]

I would want to believe, I am here, more interested in particular about the experience I am undergoing at the moment. I mean, I am a NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) member serving currently in the far East. I have so far so good seen nothing too wrong, today, about the initiative from the then Head of State, Yakubu Gowon. He introduced the programme in the late 1960s in order to bring about unity in the country due to its pluri-lingual nature and the bloody Civil War as a prequel which ushered in distrust among Nigerians. Ever since, the programme lasts 12 months by default with the finale being issuing of its certificate of service.

However, beginning from the 21 days orientation programme in the camp and after, there are sorts of programmes which corps members are being exposed to and majority of them are based on PROFESSIONAL COURSES with different professionally conspicuous tags. This they emphasise a lot to the extent one could even dream it while in bed. Could this be a good thing, a bad thing or are there areas where there are misconceptions which could on a long run be detrimental for a corps member like myself?

Professional courses are now the order of the day to help make the CV fuller in content. With that evidence youths are encouraged the more to add skills and values to themselves through these professional courses. Different institutions hence keep emerging and they give hundreds more reasons why the professional courses are needed. But then, I spot a big problem which majority might not be conscious of having been carried away by the sweet talks persuasion to consider the professional courses as the way out into that dreamed shining office. I found out that the primary reason they give is that it gives us an hedge over colleagues during interviews or while applying for job vacancies. But is that actually the whole fact?

If I took about four professional courses and I applied for a job in a company then I got to meet other people there for the same job with TGE, same knowledge, same certifications, in the professional courses I did. Now, do we call that an hedge?
Some do not even attend the lectures well enough and are yet certified (as long as they have made full payment).

Moreover, the cross is, professional courses cannot practically speak for a job seeker but the proficiency or the competence of the same job seeker, the quality of what the job seeker can offer as performance. Hence, It is false to believe that only professional courses will automatically guarantee a job seeker the dream job. This is where SELF DEVELOPMENT comes in. As a matter of practicality and efficiency and professionalism, a job seeker has got to be resourceful in practice for real as documented in the document,  even beyond, as element of surprise. I mean, in my room, at NYSC, I had bunk mate who studied Computer Engineering in one of the subregion countries but could not identify a mouse. He studied a 5 or 4 years course in few months and that was it. Again, he could not point to a mouse vividly. Whereas, we could have primary school pupil who could run a programme brilliantly - that, now, shows,  self development, commitment and being practically efficient beyond a written document. Efficiency embedded in a job seeker is what any firm would want to employ to bless the same better in the competitive market. I do not say professional courses do not have any benefits at all or use in all, what I mean to emphasise is for an individual to develop self in the profession and outside the profession such belongs to without relying wholly on the awarded certificates of professional courses to get them there.

These days, some corps members are noticed going about in kilter in order to take professional courses as they are almost rounding off their service year and with the believe that as long as they have these professional courses' certificates and attach their tags on their CVs, employment has been heavenly sealed. Well, there is much more to that in the market world. All one needs is reasoning and one would agree.

It is what one really knows and can bring to the table that would eventually give one a worthy employment opportunity but not just the few weeks of lectures and the hype the certificates are the means to every portfolio end. It is YOU who can make that job become yours for a long time if you really are efficient through self development, consistently.
